Hi - does anyone in the club know where my old 924 turbo is the registration no is DYR 605V - DVLA website says not taxed since 2009.
This is a bit of a nostalgia trip for me - whilst not the best car in the world it was the first car I drove at the Nurburgring

Any help tracing it would be appreciated.

Hi

The car was and apparently still is silver - bought from a guy who had painted it Matt Black for a charity run across Europe sponsored by a Lap Dancing Club with a Pink Lap Dancer on the bonnet and the club name!
I was working in the US at the time it was delivered and my wife was not too pleased with its arrival on the driveway - hence the repaint.
I did my first run to the Ring in it sponsored mainly by Hotel Du Vin so it needed to look presentable - Painted it silver - Carrera GT body kit fitted DAGE Fuchs split rims - serviced it bar one water pipe which was a mistake and did this all in 3 weeks - again a slight mistake as the rear tyres were fouling the arches - should not admit this but we had committed to do the run so my son and I set about the arches with an angle grinder 1/2 before leaving for the Ferry.
We had fitted a larger intercooler which seemed to work quite well but a lot of lag.
The one part that looked slightly suspect the top hose sure enough gave way on the 3rd lap but we managed to fix it with the help of Manthey Racing on a Saturday morning in their unbelievable workshop.

The other aspect of the car which is unique is that Sabine Schmitz signed the bonnet despite her usual heavy schedule - given the recent sad announcement the car has a unique piece of history attached to it.
It would be nice to let the current owner know about the car.

Wow, interesting history, and looks to be a well fitted GT body kit. Only with your consent, I can post this on our social media pages to reach a much wider audience if you are willing to make this picture and information public?

Hi thanks for the response - sure if the owner can be found that would be great I have another couple of photos.

I cant believe the wheels will be still on it but they are as rare as hens teeth - strangely I have just managed to get another set for my rebuild and I have been looking for 5 years.

Please share the message - no problem

Pete

Please upload any more pictures and I will re-share them.

Also, what years did any of the above events happen and when did you own and sell the car?

Sorry Alex I was trying to focus on finding photos - yes somehow the kit did fit quite well.

I have no idea how because I am trying to recreate that car now it has been my lockdown project and I have spent two weeks getting the nearside to fit - it all goes together ok but nothing really lines up and the worst part are the lights.
The car I have had not been run for 24 years and has been raided for parts - no seats, all the wiring cut and no steering wheel but the shell is absolutely unbelievable.
The car is now running and actually quite sweet - I have managed after five years of looking to get a set of the wheels from a race team in devon - not exactly like the silver car which had 8's on the front and 9.5 on the back and 16 inch rims these are 15's and a more sensible 7.5 and 8's. I remember at the Ring turning that rubber was hard work!
This car is not a Turbo so a bit under powered - so I am toying with putting in the 20v Audi lump but at nearly 70 years old now i'm not sure - if I could get a turbo engine then I would probably go that route its a lot easier. although the kid in me is thinking 300bhp would be fun. Who knows and I have a huge amount of work to do.
Thanks for offering to try and find the owner - much appreciated.

Pete
