Travelling down to Beaulieu tomorrow, staying overnight then visit the museum on Wednesday. Any recommendations of somewhere to go to tomorrow afternoon when we get in that area?

what sort of thing are you after?

https://tankmuseum.org/
https://www.armyflying.com/

or away from machinery:
https://newforestwildlifepark.co.uk/
https://www.marwell.org.uk/zoo/

or plenty of walks in the forest, go down to Bucklers Hard?

not been to these myself, but they will be nearby so might be worth checking out:
Birthplace of the Spitfire:

or
The Titanic:

Or if you fancy motorbikes before going to Beaulieu

Thanks Roo, looks like the new forest zoo is going to be our aiming point. Might have been pushing it to go to the tank museum or middle wallop seeing as it will be cars all day on wednesday

Cheers karl

Go dip your toes in the Solent near Calshot Castle. Sit on the dock of the bay watching the ship roll away........

Was working in Southampton a good few years ago and went for a wander around Calshot on a Saturday afternoon off. Went to the old supermarine works and low and behold there was a Short Sandringham(civvy Sunderland) bobbing away on the water just before it left for Florida.

When I was working on building the nearby Fawley Power Station, the remaining Saunders Roe Princesses were laid up on Calshot Spit, probably the largest flying boats built, never commercially viable, One went over to Ireland somewhere and became a nightclub run by some Irish singing group.
