I'm also surprised at that figure, as I can fit no more fuel in my 924 Turbo as I could in my 944


Not sure what others experience is, but I get 50l max in my tank with the fuel light on and gauge show near to empty. If I do more than a few miles with the fuel warning light on, the engine starts to cough. Not ran out completely yet............but it was close leaving Three Sisters and the 2 miles to the nearest fuel station.

924S fuel capacity is 66 litres (including 9 litres reserve), which is the same as early 944s (later 944s held 80 litres)

The listed 924S cam belt - "Continental ContiTech 5PK736 (with aircon: 6PK1000)" - is actually an auxiliary belt, not cam belt

All the official documents I've seen show the n/a, S and 944 to '85 as having a 62l fuel tank (p/n 477 201 021 F) and the Turbo/GT having 84l (p/n 937 201 021 01).

I'm confused about this talk of reserve - how do you use it? How is it different from the rest of the tank capacity? My Dad used to have a Jag with a reserve tank and a switch on the dashboard to use it, we clearly don't.

I got my 66 litre figure for the S from my '924S 944 Dimensions Tolerances' book, but it may be wrong.
Reserve, I believe, just means the amount left when the light comes on

Just changed the gerabox oil on my 924s. All the books say 2 litres capacity , but when I checked the old oil it was below the level of the filler plug, and couldn’t feel it with my finger. I took out exactly 2 litres but put 2.5 litres in to get to the correct level where it reaches the filler plug hole .

That's odd... I did mine with 2 litres and had a drop left over

Was it on level ground?
