Hello there, gentlemen. I have an interesting case I'd like to share with you and possibly get some opinions/ideas.

There is this 924 for sale here that's pretty confusing to look at. You will instantly get what I'm talking about when you have a look at the pictures.

It's being advertised as late `93 S model with all the papework intact. Now it simply can't be a `93 model to begin with and things just go downhill from there. Here's what I noticed by looking at it and I'd love to hear your comments on all that:

1. 968 fenders and lights (kit? chop shop?)
2. late 944 dash with a weird center console
3. 924 seats that have been redone to match new dash trim
4. door trim that has been redone to match the new dash
5. late 944 rear lights
6. weird front and rear bumpers (chop shop?)
7. tailgate redone to match 944 lights (?)
8. no door handles
9. swapped steering wheel
10. swapped exhaust
11. it's been LPG converted
12. swapped wheels (boxster?)
13. dashboard is in kms, not miles, so it's not some wacky pimp my ride US import

What do you lads make out of this? Have you ever seen anything like that before? It's obvious someone poured money in this for some reason. Is it a track car (although that seems ridiculous, considering the LPG)? And most importantly - is it worth even considering this?

It's not, mate. Have a look at hood and rear window line. It's only got 968 fenders and lights. It's a 924.

A 968 without the performance, or a 924 without the looks. seems like a loose loose situation to me.

Wow it's like one of those images that changes into something else the more you look at it.

That is a lot of custom work for a result that is whats to be expected from such projects.
The proportions are all wrong. There are body lines where there should not be and there are missing body lines where there should be.
I would not trust a custom car like this for anything, let alone for driving flat out on the track.
Thats probably a 924S that has had some chopped 968 fenders filled to it and some custom front and rear bumpers.
It looks wrong in many ways, proportions and details.
The 968 itself is not a pretty car but this is...well worse :)

A mess, is what it is. Not the first 924/944 I've seen that's been attempted to go 968. There was a yellow one in either the UK or Ireland a few years ago. Except they didn't attempt to fit 968 rear lights like this one, because the body would look a mess, like this one

Other than that, it's fab...
