I think it will be a gradual erosion of freedom of use of the internal combustion engine, banned from cities, then between the hours of 6am-10am and 4pm-7pm, then probably just if you have a classic car show ticket in the car...

Rural areas will always need personal transport though as it's not economically viable for buses, trains, etc.

Self driving cars are not coming in our driving lives (maybe Erin's) as the legal issues will never be settled to allow both human and AI drivers on the same roads. You need to get rid of the former to allow the latter.

 yea but what about the ones who dont like tight schedules and sitting next to random other people?
Depends on how AI develops and how we vote i guess.

.

Preserve us from allowing people to vote on things

Yes but its a long way off before there's roads full of autonomated cars whizzing around and i still believe that you will have normal electric / self drive cars driven from humans integrating with fully autonomous cars they will just have clever collision avoidance systems that will take over from human input.

Nope. Trains are far too expensive, unreliable, smelly. They will never catch on. An autonomous car will arrive when you want it, to an address you want and get you to the door of the destination you want. I don't want to drive at all for business journeys. Happy to be driven in electric silence. At the weekend I want to drive myself in 4 star stinking classic

To get back from the NEC in November I used shank's pony, 3 trains and a bus replacement from Bristol to Filton to get door to door. Took 5hrs and cost £90!!!! .......... just 2.5hr by car and less than £15 in fuel

You live in the wrong place took me about 1.5 hours, change at New Street and about £30 something return, mind you had to stand all the way, felt sorry for those going to Newport/Cardiff who usually stand all the way on a Friday night.

I find it all a little worrying.
The planes you fly to your holiday destination basically fly themselves - they are more efficient than a human pilot. However, there has to be a human there in case something goes wrong with the ‘computer’.

I’m led to believe the same is on some modern trains now with once again, the driver being there, ‘in case’.

I know in the self driving vehicle there will be a driver present in it but, due to the nature of a motor vehicle, by the time the ‘driver’ has realised something is wrong, the vehicle has probably already struck something?

I believe we’re in an era (although I’m not happy about it!) where AI, technology or whatever you want to call it, is taking over, I’m a firm believer in the fact that these things should compliment us, not replace us?
When that happens, it might not go the way we hoped?

Our future has already been predicted by Pixar. B&L is Amazon making us buy anything and everything. The Earth is doomed due to consumerism and throw away mentality all for a fast buck. Human race will be fat slobs oblivious to anyone around them due to being addicted to screens. Mark my words

I’ve never seen that before. On face value it’s funny in as much as we laugh at them. However, it’s a little bit scary if you think about it!
