Sometime towards the end of April/beginning of May myself and a few friends are looking at having a long weekend away in our respective cars just driving on some nice roads and staying a couple of nights in pubs/inns along the way.

Due to the logistics involved for those involved - we’re all over the place - Wales has come up as the most sensible option.
I know the Welsh roads are well known for their vista/driving so are unlikely to be quiet but, are there any suggestions on suitable roads and over night stops drop peoples experiences here?

Give Jason Gibson a Shout, He has run plenty of driving tours over their for TIPEC, (with us invited) so knows which ones work in convoy, or cause chaos when you meet a Chelsea tractor coming the other way who is afraid of getting the tyres dirty

Hi Mike

I would suggest that you base yourself at the metropole hotel in llandrindod wells.

They cater for car clubs and individuals, they will allocate parking for you.
If you want to take your other halves, they have spa facilities for those not liking the driving.

If you let me know how many days you intend staying, i can suggest some routes for each day.
the hotel location lends itself to some fab driving.
Avoid the north and their over policed roads

I was planning on doing another Transaxle weekend tour but It's more likely to be the Autumn now

I’ll have a good look at the area as it sounds the sort of roads were looking for.
Re accommodation, I think the general thought is to find some nice pubs/inns on the route and spend the evenings eating good pub food and a few pints.
As a rule, I don’t tend to suit places that have spa facilities!

It's not a typical spa hotel.

The car park will be full of classic and sports cars.
They'll do you a deal including an evening meal and breakfast.
