Early I know but I am beginning to think about Bomber Run 2020.

This year, I may run it as a two day event so you can attend either or both. This will likely be during one of my school holidays, 29th and 30th May or or 24th and 25th July. I'm open to suggestions. Earlier and the weather can be very patchy and the aircraft don't come out.

Friday

A tour of south Lincolnshire. Starting outside the county, we will begin near Melton at the Alpine Cafe.

From there we will tour through Bourne, stopping at the BRM museum (if it is open by then). We will then take in as many airfields as we can as we head towards Coningsby and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Museum.

As it will be flight season and a Friday, there is a very high chance the aircraft will be taking off in preparation for weekend flights.

We will then go on to visit RAF Woodhall Spa to walk the runways and take in the memorials.

Our day will finish with a meal at the stunning and historically important Petwood Hotel.

Saturday

Start out from near Woodhall Spa. Short drive up to the International Bomber Command Centre and to stop for a good look around this time, including a guided tour.

Tour the county to find relics of the old bases and end up at East Kirkby. Hopefully I can coincide it with a Just Jane Taxi day.

Count me in! - May dates would likely work best for me. I'd probably also look at staying over in the Petwood on the Friday night.

As current holder of the trophy, you'd better be there!

Looks ideal. Let me know how much they are and I'll refund you the cost.

July date would probably be best for me.

For anyone interested in this subject I've just finished reading "Luck and a Lancaster" written by an ex Lancaster pilot Harry Yates DFC. He wrote his memoir when he was 76! As far as I know he hasn't written anything else before or since but I found it an excellent read which gets the reader as close as possible to experience how it must have been for the pilots and crews of Bomber Command.

No problem, I can pick up a crate or two.

The Lincolnshire Craft Beers brewery is in Melton Ross, 1 mile from Kirmington, where the Marrowbone and Cleaver (Guy Martin's pub) has lots of RAF memorabilia and has regularly holds special events where he attends, which may be worth a thought for a stop, if you haven't been there before.

BTW I forgot to vote for May, as we have school holiday considerations as well.

I’m very keen to attend if I can! I can’t tell at this point which would be better but I’ll do my best to safe guard the date once decided on! Guy martins pub would be a great rest point too if possible!

We would like to join you this time, whichever date you choose we will try to keep free.
I like the sound of a stop off at Guy Martin's pub if you can fit it in.
