The second Bomber County Run will take place on Saturday 2nd June.

We will once again have the use of the Historic Petwood Hotel’s grounds. A lovely place to start as it has very important connections with the Dambusters. We will have exclusive use of the Squadron Bar, which has a small but very important museum inside.

http://www.petwood.co.uk

Those who pre book can have a breakfast at £16 a head. Breakfast will be served at 8.45.

From there we will set off to the International Bomber Command Centre. With its long awaited grand opening in April, the memorial gardens and spire are complemented by an interactive museum on site. They have offered us a super deal of not only discounted tickets but also a meet and greet and tour of the gardens. Cost to enter is £6.50 and a parking charge of £3. To get this we need 20 or more in the party, so don’t be shy about bringing passengers!

http://internationalbcc.co.uk

The route will then continue after lunch through the twisty Lincolnshire countryside. Along the route we’ll see a multitude of RAF bases. Some operational, some mothballed and others haunting relics of a violent and difficult conflict.

This year marks RAF 100 and 75 years since the Dambusters’ raid. Just add to the thread if you’re interested!

Would have loved to join you again for this run next year but already booked ferry to drive to Spain 15 May. I'll keep looking in case the date changes for any reason. :violin:

Okay, just bumping it and gauging interest in shifting the date. The advantage of moving the date is that May is busy on the club calendar so knocking it back into June will free up some weekends. Also if we did it the following weekend we could do Friday as a day to visit the Battle of Britain Memorial flight and tour their hanger.

Lots of options for the main tour. We could do a similar run to last time but include the new Bomber Command Memorial. We could go further North and see more of the Cold War history. Or we could go back to East Kirkby - Just Jane is running again now.

I am keen to include the Petwood as a start or end point and they will let us have the Officers Bar again.

Could you let me know your thoughts? I’m not going to get onto it fully for a few weeks, the NEC and Prescott are keeping me busy. But I need to book with the museums soonish

We would love to join in with this. The Petwood is practically our local and I was gutted I overlooked what was happening last year... I'll be keeping an eye to see if you change the dates and fingers firmly crossed that we're free!

Hi Ed. I'm keen but I'm booked for the May weekend already ( I think its a BH) for a childrens festival so can't re-arrange. At the moment I'm free for weekends in June so that might work better for me, so I'll keep an eye out if the date changes.

It looks like a great trip!
