For anyone who was wondering, I did make it back home. I had to stop once to wiggle the connector to the headlights because they wouldn't pop up, and again for petrol, but the car started again with no problems. Thanks to everyone who helped get it running again!

Even more thanks to everyone responsible for this show! And special thanks to Andy for all the work he's done over the last few days and to Max at Frazerpart for donating all the parts. I feel a slightly undeserving recipient of all this generosity — but I'm certainly very pleased about it.

I have to say the car felt great on the way home. The handling is about a million times better and it feels solid and planted at high speeds. The journey to to NEC on Thursday was hard work — it felt like the car was constantly fighting me. The journey back was a pleasure — just cruising along at 80 with no real effort. Lovely. I'll get the tracking done again just to make sure it's 100% spot on, but I don't think it's an exaggeration to say this weekend has transformed the car.

What a great weekend!

First, thank you to Andy and Ben whose tireless work on the demos attracted huge amounts of attention and praise all weekend. It’s worth remembering both of them gave up their spare time to make this happen. We were one of very few stands completing live tasks and their work undoubtably secured the award for us.

With varied demonstrations and the selection of cars, we were really able to show off how practical a classic the 924 is. We’ve made a lot of friends over the weekend and it is clear that the club is being held in high regard. That only comes from the hard work everyone involved put in.

Thank you to Dave for entrusting us with his beautiful Turbo. The unusual colour attracted lots of admiration. Thank you to Ben for not only working all weekend but also putting his car on the stand (and the magic lift thingy). An audience when you’re trying to figure out problems on your car is hard enough without having the gaze of another car club upon you too! Thanks too David for lending us his NA. It’s a big thing let someone else do jobs for you and we’re all pleased its made a difference. I feel that’s a prime example of what the club does well , helping each other, in action.

Thanks too to every one of you who helped us on the stand over the weekend. Your passion and friendliness draws people in and makes them think differently about the cars. I think we’re all feeling that the tide is turning and we’ve earned a lot of respect for the car now.

Finally a thank you to Phil who p, despite a pressing set of coinciding deadlines delivered another show to be proud of.

(Now you can see why they wouldn’t let me make a speech at the awards...)
