Just found this! 1987 published options for 1988 model year 924S. Clearly gives the two 'Sports' options as M030 which is described as 'sports chassis' and has stabiliser bars and sports shocks and M474 which is sport shocks!

Note there is no mention of 'adjustable' shocks. This suggests M030 for a 924S in 1988 was larger bars and harder shocks, certain springs, lowered and was not adjustable.

Also attached is the relevant page of the 924S PET by Porsche showing the two shock towers listed as M474 and M030 - clearly not the adjustable shocks I showed in there very fist picture!

I suspect that 'Lowered/Adjustable Suspension' is a general term for either 'lowered' or 'Adjustable' options

The 924S had standard front ARB of 20mm, with 21.5mm solid and 23.5mm tubular being options.
The standard 924S rear had no ARB but 14mm was an option (it pairs well with the two front options)

I have a five-way adjustable 19mm rear (on its stiffest setting) paired with a 25.5mm tubular front. It's deliberately set up that way by me to be easy to provoke oversteer; but no manufacturer would put a road going car out to the public like that

MO30/M637 option included height adjustable struts on the 944. As far as know the only 924S that came with height adjustable struts was the CS model in the US (intended for Autocross) - those struts are very hard to find

Note Porsche did briefly up the rear anti roll bar sizes and then dropped them back down. Like you Nige, I increased the rear bar size from 14mm to 18mm.

Just realised looking at the PET diagram for 1986 to 1988 924S, you can clearly see that the M030 strut is shorter than the other one. The distance from the bottom of the strut to the spring base is different. What I think is amazing is that this is clearly not the later threaded cylinder with the ally spring perches version of M030, as both the M030 and the M474 on this diagram have fixed spring perches.

More research last night and this is what I found. It looks like that for a 1988 model year 924S the M474 was the first option of the sports suspension, it had a sports shock by Koni which actually was adjustable but only off the car on initial set up (rebound adjustable) and could be set to slightly different settings this was a stiffer setting, and had a slightly shorter and stiffer front spring and was effectively halfway between standard shocks and the M030 option.

M030 had the sports shock which were rebound and height adjustable (at the top), rear shocks that were rebound adjustable - these were valved differently and stiffer, they had a red marked spring on the front rather than a blue one, the thicker roll bars front and back and it looks like also stiffer bushes.

Happy to be corrected but from everything I have read this looks like what was in each option.

That fits to a degree with my 'Porsche 924S 944 Models Dimensions Tolerances' book

924S MO30 option up until end of 86 had red dot springs of free length 359mm and rate 24.1 N/mm giving a lower ride height (as opposed to the standard chassis blue dot springs of 381mm free length and rate 21.8 N/mm)
