Hi,
Does anyone have a G31 Gearbox from a Turbo/CGT for sale.
Im seriously thinking of having my Carrera GT box rebuilt but need a donor box to start off with to make things easier if possible.

Cheers
Alan

Hi Is it to put in the car whilst the other is being rebuilt or to be used for spares to rebuild the old one?

Can I suggest using Alan Stokes to rebuild your unit, if you do not already have a specialist in mind?

Absolutely Alan is the man. The reason I am asking about the gearbox is I have a spare that has been rebuilt by Alan so A1 condition. may be selling it but would not want it to be used for spares as is too good for that.

Possibly you and AlanB could strike a deal? He buys your perfectly rebuilt gearbox and fits it to his car, and then has his existing unit rebuilt by Alan Stokes and sent back to you?

CGT gearbox has some different internals to a turbo, most importantly an LSD

The spare Turbo gearbox I have has an lsd on it. I thought all turbo boxes did to be honest. Obviously easier to test when on a pallet on your garage floor, than when on the car!

Please Tell me more about this box Glenn

I need to refit my Quaife LSD ASAP as my hillclimb yesterday showed I have traction issues and was looking to get my car to Alan Stokes in the coming weeks. Ideally first 2 weeks of June.

Turbos did not have the ZF plate type LSD as standard. CGT did. Many of the turbo gearbox parts are nla but are being replaced with CGT, 928 or 911 parts I believe.

I’ll consider what AlanB does first with your offer of potential sale but it may be something I’m interested in

sorry my mistake it does not have lsd I am afraid. I have rechecked (as I rushed this morning) and can confirm it is not an lsd box.

Regards

Glenn
