Has anyone got an NA rear axle assembly i can buy? I want it as a spare to build up to do a swap onto one or other of my NAs. Condition is not too important so long as it's not scrap.

Having done a bit of research on PET, I believe there are differences between the rear axle in early cars and those from later cars and possibly between cars with four and five speed gearboxes. I'm looking specifically for one off a four speed car and also for one for an 81 car.

4 speed had a different final drive ratio to 5 speed.

Exhaust bracket mounting is also different on the 4 speed, the round silencer mounting bracket comes off the gearbox backplate, the later oval silencer bracket mounts on the gearbox flange plate

What do you mean by axle? Gearbox, Suspension rear torsion beam, half (drive) shafts? Worth clarifying since I thought you meant the rear torsion beam, but Stan has nicely summarised the gearbox (transaxle) differences.

Good luck with the search, afraid I can't help with any of it!
Cheers,
John

Thinking about it, I don't actually need the transmission or halfshafts, just the torsion beam and if that comes with the suspension and rear brakes all the better.
