Blimey what do you do with it. If you go turbo race car it's a huge amount of money in the engine alone, then it's belts, seat, extinguisher, wheels, brakes. As we have learnt pistons are £400+
If you go back to road it's huge again.
Sadly it is probably a parts car sub £1k

According to a post on Facebook group by previous owner, new owner was going to rebuild for racing with it.......the cold light of day dawned in the 8 weeks since 19th March 2020 when it was trailered away

Spot on Steve, massive bill to build engine and get it through scruteneering to be put in the big boys class at hscc or the like and you cannot compete. Must of scared the poop out of matey boy when he enquired on cost of pistons, valves, bearings etc

Not sure it was ever 'lost' in the barn to be 'barn find'. It was looking a little neglected though....images posted by previous owner end of last year when offering for sale. I guess once he removed the head to see a holed piston, it was game over. Mentioned the engine was rebuilt whilst he owned it?

Current seller has given some great info in the advert......but still doesn't change the fact its a £5k engine rebuild and probably similar money to make it a racer again needing proper cage, in date seat, harnesses, fire protection, tyres, and a thorough going over mechanically to be race track ready.......then not to be competitive in race series of choice.

If you have a spares car, might be an OK option for hillclimb car where all the in date race stuff not required. Some of the work has already been done to make it 'racey'. But £2k is a lot of money for a tatty old race car that doesn't run. For not a lot more you could have a running NA race car almost ready to go?

Has anyone seen a turbo listed cheaper in recent times? I haven’t seen one! Yes it needs a lot of work I agree. But so does the blue one I saw for sale and that needs a lot of work too but was (IIRC) more than twice the price. If you want a turbo project there aren’t many options and they will always be expensive to restore - it is a Porsche afterall and it’s still less expensive than resorting a 944 turbo - and likely less rust issues too. I know you both compete, but you’re in the minority because it’s an expensive hobby, so don’t forget the opportunity for track days for regular folk which means far less expense in safety equipment (ie could be a tatty road interior) and it’s not about being competitive with other cars as such, but the turbo would be more fun on track than a NA I would think.

If I didn’t already have a big enough project I would be putting a bid above the start price (subject to me checking the sills are still present and not significantly rust holed!)

Just my 2p incase anyone is browsing for opinions.
