Hi Ed,

Thanks, yes I am still running the same tyres as in the pictures and hadn’t realised these were not the original size. I’m not too bothered to change at the moment whilst they have decent tread but is there any advantage to go back to the original size in terms of handling or comfort?

I'm not the person to ask about that for this as such. Mine runs the 15" tyre with the 205 width and 60 profile.

What I can say is that the 185/70 is better at absorbing the potholes than the 205/60. They're also a lot lighter on the steering. Biggest change is likely to be your speedo will be accurate though.

You're luckier with the 14" as tyre choice is much better. Good tyres on these transform them. Too often, they're fitted with awful tyres that really aren't suitable. When I bought mine it had some round black things on called Imperials. They made the car handle dreadfully.

Hi Ed,

Thanks for the information. I suspect the tyres currently on the car are just budget versions. Depending on what’s happening with COVID the plan is to take the car on a charity rally through Europe in September so I may look at replacing the tyres then.

Hi All,

One further question, I am now looking to change the insurance on the car to an agreed value given the work that’s been carried out. I have a figure in mind but would be interested to get your views? I know PCGB offer a valuation service but I am not a member and just interested to understand if my insurance valuation of the vehicle is in the right ball park. There are photos of the car in the thread and am attaching a couple of photos of the interior. To summarise the work carried out:

Fuel injection system overhauled cold running issues resolved
New rear brake pipes
All 5 wheels stove enamelled
Two s/h replacement front wings
Full glass out repaint, new seals and ancillaries as required
New front windscreen
Waxoyled underneath
107K miles believed original

To add I won’t be offended whatever thoughts on value you have

Thanks.

We’re actually discussing this as a committee. We will have a new club valuation process in place really soon so bear with us.

It looks a good car and the prices have been climbing. However to value it properly we need specific information. We’ll make an announcement soon. I’ll make a note to tell you when myself, when it’s ready.
