I don't really understand the dashboard cracking. I had thought that UV/heat light shrunk the vinyl at a different rate to the fibreboard causing stress cracks. Always wondered whether laying fibreglass underneath a good one would strengthen it or not. A non-cracked dash does make it a lovely place to sit!

Anyway, despite all the red ones posted on here I don't think any are exactly the same!

Here's mine...

The grain in the vinyl is quite unique also, a sweeping 'veiny' pattern that is very hard to match if you look at trimming materials available which tend to be much closer grained.

Despite my thoughts on dash covers and renovation I'm still looking out for a good s/h one.

Yep, the various trim combinations give them all individual character - I used to love the interior on my Saphirblau 924, it was beige and black Pasha with brand new champagne Porsche overmats- wonder where it is now.

this is the section that should be satin black, it is covered by the stone guard on the turbo and the S,
hope that helps, Kozzy

Not sure that should be described as satin black, I think it is black stonechip?

No! It is satin black! The main colour was painted over the stone chip as can be seen inside the wheel arches,

Yes I think it should be satin black; what happens is that over the years PO's see this as an easy diy tart up and paint it with all sorts of stuff including black waxoyl, it was on my previous car.

Great! So is the finish smooth or does it have a texture?

I would be interested to hear other owners observations, I haven't seen anything that doesn't resemble a black stonechip in this location?
