Awwww, she's not looking too happy, what are the plans? How do you restore the panel work on one of these?

It's a massive job when previous owners don't keep on top of it. Estimate of £35 to 40k of body work alone! Thanks to poor ownership, they just want to play and then sell when it becomes overwhelming. The engine needs to come out as substructure and floor has started to fail. Massive job that needs works attention.

They tend to sell to people like its owner who is in the trade and can give them cash, otherwise loads are out there just rotting away with moron owners not prepared to accept they are incapable of seeing the project to fruition. I read a lot are now destined for scrap. This loco is one of the better ones at least it is complete and runs

It is an enjoyable millstone round my neck. The problems faced with body work in particular surround the quality of steel, I try and get any steel replaced with corten steel which is far more resistant to corrosion, however fabricators are reluctant to work with it as costs increase and it puts extra burden on tooling and having to use more consumables like cutting and grinding discs
