Well I've managed a few more jobs over the holiday week

I had fun wrestling with the WUR, https://porsche924.co.uk/forum/viewtopi ... 45&t=27577
Still haven't sorted the hot start but have given up as I don't know whats wrong with it, 2 rebuilt WUR both drop to 0psi hot but with the valve turned off ti holds pressure so I'll have to come back to this

Following on from extreme jet washing https://porsche924.co.uk/forum/viewtopi ... 10&t=27531
I've cleaned all the wheel arches out and tidied up the sills, to protect it from another years worth of rallying gravel rash

And then painted it up

Can't believe how good the underside of this car still is,

Then I had a go at the gear linkage that has been annoying me since I bought the car

Just a little wear on the old leaver then.

Gear linkage is much better now, but still a little play

So I finished off painting the sills,

then added a set of rear spats to protect the rear arch lips from the gravel thrown up by spinning rear wheels

And now I've moved onto the rear brakes

couple of bits I cant shift, the brake line wont budge so the cylinder is staying in place for now as it looks ok and the handbrake cable bolts not moving either

but the biggest problem is the star adjuster is rusted in, so its been soaking over night and now time for some heat

The holder is drilled through isn't it? Just whack it through, it only slides in, no thread or anything.

No the holder has 2 separate holes so I cant knock it out from the other side
and the gas has run out on the blow torch so I'm stumped for another night

Did your spats still have their studs in useable condition Chris; or did you fit them by some other method?

In that case, if you tighten a bolt in, the star adjuster has a choice of turning or getting pushed out, either way some movement is initiated (this is where you tell me its left hand thread  ).

I'd avoid heat because iirc there is a load of weird filler around there which could get killed with heat. I usually molegrip them, there is a risk of breaking a tooth but they are only about £2 each and used on Beetles.

Nige, at the moment the spats are hanging on by a wish and a prayer, most of the studs were missing so I pulled the last ones out, once I decide I like then Tigre seal should keep then there. I'm not drilling holes in good body work

Andy, I've currently been hitting them with a hammer & chisel which wont move them so might have to look at screwing a bolt into them, will check the thread when I get home
