Interesting replies to the OPC products and does make sense in that they would be after a quick fix rather than any long term benefit

Just read a post on FB regarding the last 4 digits of the VIN identifying the build number.

Guess this means that Monaco Blue was a 1980 model year car (built in 1979 according to the certificate of authenticity) and the 990th turbo built out of a total 5243 produced that year.

Yes, the AO in the VIN identifies it as an 80 MY car (the build year commences August of the previous year) and Turbo chassis numbers for the build year for Europe start 400001

Mines 827. The info I received from Porsche Germany was that it had an invoice date of 12th December 79. I guess that’s when it was shipped from factory to the uk?

A nod to the original 911 targa with the silver roll over.

Even though the forecast is for more snow next week and I passed a gritter tonight covering the roads in sand and salt that’s the first of the cars back on the road for summer.

Bought the service kit for the 928 and have it booked in for a couple of weeks time at OPC.

The kit cost £180 and the labour will be £750 including a check of the flex plate (known problem area on these things and think I may even buy the ritech clamp to give me some peace of mind)

Took it for a run up to Crathes and back today and just so easy to drive but not exactly a cheap car to maintain, and I think I have a good one. Goodness knows how much a bad one would cost !

I was in a couple of weeks ago picking up bits and was drooling over it too.

Nearly put the silver 924 back on the road, but the gritters put me off!

Fred,

When I was in, Gavin was telling me he was working on a particularly nice silver 924S.

Some guy in Turriff I think it was.
