As for re-engineering - I took the plunge and bought half a 924 so I can assemble the new 16v supercharged engine in that so I can position various components (will have AC too!) and then once built just swap into mine so I can keep using my car with minimal off the road time!

Does this have to be in a Porsche? I track share a BMW Z4 (as in I have done once!) and might be able to convince the driver to bring that along!

Any car you wish John, it’d be great if it was the 924 but I can happily pit the Boxster alongside the Z4

Loving your test bed front end... just brilliant

I guess you'll be travelling there on the day as I can see you're only about 30 miles from the track?

I'm coming from Surrey as is the other chap in the thread, so we'll be finding somewhere to stay and driving up the night before. Can we swap numbers to find each other the next day? Although I'm sure your car will be easy enough to spot! Here's mine anyway: 07763931457

I think your name is Chris. Is that right?

Hi Alex, yes, there’s some good hotels locally and access to the circuit is good as well. My number is 07775 794 291, looking forward to seeing you on the day

Good news? Let me see if I can tempt my buddy into bring the Z4 - but otherwise the 924 might come!!

 genius!

Just a thought John - if you build it with the front cut still on the trailer, and hook the back half of a bike to it and an improvised petrol tank, you could even do straight line test runs....

Hahha! Sounds like fun! Tbh I’ve been looking at Hydraulic PTO tractor pumps thinking I could make a primative Dyno! Restric the pump outflow to load the engine and check the load doesn’t break anything! But then I realised I have enough projects and building an engine dyno was probably a step too far for now! Instead I’ll take it to an engine dyno I think! My aim to to have the mock up engine running by my birthday in early Dec!

Back to track days - so gutted I couldn’t make this one I’ve instead booked Mallory Park for 14th Nov (a saturday!). The track isn’t as fun, but for £130 for the day it’s a cheap track day and will scratch my itch for this year! If anyone wants to join me there you’re very welcome!!
