It looks wrong because it's different to what we're used to seeing; but to me it looks no worse than a factory 968 (the least attractive of our front engined model range IMO)

Clearly a lot of effort went into it so for £3.5k it's not bad value

Considering the price, which is negotiable and judging by the reactions, I doubt there will be many takers even at a lower price (which is interesting, as I believe mods alone cost somewhere around the asking price; I'm not saying they were worth it, just discussing figures), value-wise, do you reckon this might be looked at as a short-term (<5 years) investment that might pay off with few changes?

If looking for investment, I would suggest you steer clear and buy an un modified car, anything that has been modified beyond recognition would only appeal to the like minded, who are, hopefully, very few!

Modified cars are usually not investments**, period. The more bespoke the modification to owner taste, the worse it will perform as an investment. More so if not done to a very high standard and will deteriorate more quickly than a stock car.

(**unless you are Ruf, Singer, Paul Stephens ....... )

It's not, mate. Have a look at hood and rear window line. It's only got 968 fenders and lights. It's a 924.

You're right, I looked again and the badge panel gives it away as being a 924 or 944 shell.

I don't think the headlights are 968 though, that has popups while these look more upright and fixed, more like 911 style (maybe 993?). And the dashboard is too tall in the middle for a standard 944 which wouldn't have room for those gauges. And... and... we could go on all night picking it apart.

Frankly, I can't see it having any investment potential short or long term aside from curiosity value regardless of how much has been spent on it (or how much more gets spent on it). But I don't think it's a bad looking car overall, so if you fancy driving it and you're happy with the price, the many quirks and the potential difficulty in selling it again, go for it.

Isn't there fun and games involved with mating a later 944 dashboard with the 924S heater system and also the non-flush windscreen? Wonder if all that's working...
As for lights, yes the wings seem to be more raised above the bonnet than with a 968. Curious body kit altogether

Here's the VIN: WP0ZZZ92ZJN450424. It's a 88 one, he claims first registration is 93. Don't know if that is possible?
