For a cheap and efficient option I would suggest a Land Rover Discovery MK2 . Thirsty but a great workhorse. My father has one in our mountain home and its a great car for pulling stuff etc . They look beautifully classic as well in green with them discovery decals, roof ladders etc
Range Rover is an impressive car ! I would try some convincing as well... mind you saying that in my case it never works when it comes to cars/ garages etc.

I'm with you on the Disco2, the only point that of slight concern was the potential for expensive rust in the rear subframe unless someone else knows a bit more info. A TD5 Mk2 Disco would be perfect.
The one down here doesnt have any rust but then again its a much dryer climate surely. Power steering, air con, all electrics, massive, roomy interior for 7 people with upper windows, british design make the disco mk2 a great car and i love it. Can sent some pics when at the mountain house next as its permanently there .... Btw love climbing on its roof ( there is a ladder

) and watch from its top with binoculars from the very top of a mountain ( Disco can get up there easily !!!) the surrounding mountains etc. Its an amazing car to go up mountains and difficult terrain
