The Porsche 924 Owners Club

With both winter and lockdown putting things on hold for a while, we're going to run a few virtual events in the next few weeks.

What else have you got to do?

What is it?

An opportunity to chat and discuss cars with your friends from the club and get to meet members from far afield. You could present your car or cars and that doesn't have to be just 924s. We're all pretty obsessed with cars so anything and everything would be great!

Who is it for?

Club members or family.

When?

21st February 11am onwards.

How to join

E-mail Ed at events@porsche924.co.uk and he will send you joining instructions for Zoom.

I'd love to show my cars. How do I do it?

Great. Firstly, don't be nervous. You can pre-record you presentation to allow you time to edit it or just go for it live.

Things that work well:

History of your cars
Walkaround the exterior and interior.
Explain how you got into ownership/classics.
Talk through unusual features of your car.
Talk through projects or modifications you have done or are planning.


Ideally I need 4 - 6 presenters. Each presentation lasts about 10-15 minutes and then we open up to the members to ask questions.


I'm looking forward to it already. It has been fabulous the other times we've done it and it gives us a chance to virtually poke our heads under the bonnets of people's cars- which we all miss!

It was great to meet some of the club members. You are not that scary after all.

For the resto nerds:

As mentioned during the meeting - one of Polish car journalists bought the wrecked 911 for restoration. '69 model, 'upgraded' at some stage to the G model, but interestingly with Polish history from the new. There weren't too many of them bought new in Poland in '69.
It looked rather sorry:


First thought to be 2.7 RS, but during the restoration it turned out that this very car was the 911 ST being raced by Polish legend Sobiesław Zasada (winner of 148 rallies):


The restoration project turned out to be a mindblowing ground-up jobbie that lasted over 2 years, and was done in the best way possible. The whole thing was being posted on Youtube on a weekly basis as a matter-of-fact vlog filmed by the restoration crew and the journalist himself. It made Sunday mornings very special.

The end result is rather stunning in its Costa Brava '73 livery:
