I bought my first 924 about 6 years ago. My criteria at the time was 1) 2.0 n/a, nice and easy to work on 2) Non-sunroof - they only leak 3) post 1980 - fully galvanised 4) preferably spoilerless.

I ran it for a while, eventually it ended up off the road not starting for a long while. I decided to cut my losses and decided on the following criteria 1) 924S extra bhp 2) Sunroof - wouldn't that be nice 3) Clean interior 4) as low mileage as possible. I bought E565 WWD from Newport Bagnell way. She had 103K miles on the clock, split free front seats, crack free dash and had a sunroof so ticked all my boxes. I paid £1,950 about three years ago which I felt was probably £200 more than she was really, truthfully worth, but felt the overall condition was very good compared to some of the dogs I had seen.

I have spent the last four years converting a barn that has taken all my time and money. I have bought, and sold, bits and bobs that I have never got around to fitting. As my partner is expecting our first child in a couple of months I have decided that if I don't spend some money now I definitely won't have any in a couple of months. I have scaled back my original plans due to budgetary constraints to a few subtle mods.

6j 195 fronts with 7j 215 tyres for a staggered set of wheels
Wiperless and spoilerless hatch (no hole for the wiper! I looked for about three years before I found one, I had to do a 500 mile round trip to collect)
Delete rear spats

Left to do:

Lower front 30mm by lowered springs, re-index rear torsion bar and poly bush rear end while it's out, lower rear so sills are level (probably 40mm) - planned for the week before Easter
Fit 968 F&R anti roll bars (bought about three years ago)
Fit clear front indicators (on order) and side repeaters and see if I like them, if so get some clear rear indicators
Down to the bodyshop to tidy up the front sills where people have bent with a jack etc, repaint lower front valance, remove about 8 small dents all around the car, remove rust around windscreen, fill holes from rear mudguard removal - booked in for the week after Silverstone

My brother was sourcing the upper and mid mounts for me. "about £30 each mate" He went to Porsche to find the mid mounts that he used about seven years ago for his 944 are NLA so you have to buy the 944 Turbo / 968 part 951.333.088.30 / 32 at £152 EACH!!!!!!!!!! I could have had aluminium ones from Pro-9 Birmingham for £144 for the pair, but there was a delay on the order and they would be available two weeks after I wanted to do the car.

Waiting to find out how much he has had to pay for the upper ones.

Managed to find a brand new mid mount at Porsche -Apart for £95 saving me £57

Front springs done, wishbone bushes didn't wan't to come out but have now. New front bushes in. Need to get the front wheels back on, measure the drop (to work out how many splines to turn the back), lift the back end, wheels off and get the big bolts cracked off tonight before going to bed!
