Sun Sept 20th Drive (this is definitely running!!)

Meet from 9:00 am - 10:30 am NOTE - WE WILL BE SPLITTING INTO GROUPS OF 6 PEOPLE MAX

Go for a drive (choice of 3 routes, see links & details below)

Return to same place for socially distanced picnic lunch - bring your own lunch, plus e.g. camping chair, picnic blanket...

Depart when ready

Notes: Permission to park was granted by the owner (John) to park on the grass parking area, just before the garden centre on the right, adjacent to the camping field access road (I should be there to greet you anyway, so you will see me and my car). Hoar Park Farm has toilets and tea room/cafe and craft/antique/farm shops open from 10am-5pm every day (see https://www.hoar-park.co.uk/). Also has a kids animal farm if you like that sort of thing!

COVID precautions: Bring a mask. Please be mindful and maintain social distance of 2-3 metres at all times. Put your mask on if you need to go closer than this.

COVID update 14th Sept new laws: it looks like we can still run this as long as we divide into groups of 6 people max when parked. If this is the case, I will do this split on the day as people are parking. Please then stay in your groups, otherwise you/we will be breaking the law. Please also observe the above COVID precautions within your own group.

<PETROL STATIONS> - there are a number on the A5 about half way point (adjacent Grendon).
<COFFEE/WC STOPS> - a Starbucks and Costa (drive-thru) on the A5 about half way point (adjacent Grendon).
<24hr RECOVERY> - Fillongley Garage 24hr control room number: 01676 540636

GOOGLE MAPS NAVIGATION ROUTES - LINKS BELOW & IN THE PDF FILE. Open the route you want to take in Maps. Once loaded, press the Start button to start navigating (this option will only be/become available when you are at Hoar Park). These routes consist of multiple way-points – once you reach the next way-point, you will be prompted to Continue to the next way-point.

WHAT TO DO IF ROUTE NAVIGATION FAILS part way through the route:
The route links provided below are fixed and will only provide the option to Start navigating when at Hoar Park – this is not very useful if you are part way through the route already, but luckily we can fix it quite easily by following these easy steps.
(1) click on the original route link (see links below the map images on the next pages of this PDF).
(2) once Google Maps has opened the route, click within the way-points box near the top of the screen to open the editable route list and the map showing the route and your current location.
(3) determine where you are on our route and determine the way-point on the route that you want to go towards next e.g. F.
(4) delete ALL BUT ONE of the way-points that you have already passed by clicking on the crosses at the end of the steps. REMEMBER TO LEAVE ONE TO ADD YOUR CURRENT LOCATION !! This will be at the top of the list (first step).
(5) now edit the first step to add your current location as follows: click on the first step in the route stops list, scroll down if necessary, delete the text from the first step using backspace (or just press the cross button next to the text). The cursor will flash in the Choose starting point field and the edit options will then appear below that first step line. Select Your location to replace the original step with you current location. Click on Finished (this should take you back to the Start navigation screen).
(6) click Start to continue navigating the route.

I suppose you could roll with the 924ers in the morning and then go and be bored shi*less and get yer free T-shirt in the afternoon  only joking, only joking, I really love MX-5's.... because they are all completely the same except some are red with pop-up headlights and some are BRGreen with pop-up headlights. :booze: Incidentally, I got my first speeding ticket in a BRGreen MX-5 :woohoo:

Might pop along to see you anyway (in the 5), if you don’t object.
