A Bit About us

Here’s what a few of our Younger Members have to say about themselves…

Hey, I’m Thea. I’m a big fan of classics with pop-up headlights. Living in London the Ultra Low Emissions Zone (ULEZ) meant that I needed one that was at least 40 years old and therefore exempt from the £12.50 daily charge, and that was when I found out about the 924. With a tonne of research over a few months I found one with all the features I was looking for; a Lux spec, 5 speed manual, metallic paint colour, no spoiler and with a black interior. My intention was always to buy one which was running and in decent condition as I knew it would be too overwhelming to sort it out myself with the limited knowledge I had on cars. Fortunately, Camille has been an absolute champ from the get go and we’ve thoroughly enjoyed over 10k miles in just two years. I’ve focused my attention on doing mainly cosmetic tweaks in order to keep her period correct. It’s been good fun finding 80s car accessories at auto jumbles like Beaulieu. The club has been so lovely and welcoming, I feel so grateful to be one of the team. I created the Discord server and have become the unofficial leader for the Younger Members as I wanted to try and give something back after all the support the club has given me.

Hi, my name is Lee, I bought my 924 back in April 2016 as a project car after it had been left unloved for a few years on a farm. I bought my car after meeting the then chairman of the 924OC, Andrew Pritchard, and falling in love with the car and its cool 80s quirks. Since 2016 I have done a lot of work on my car to get it running spot on and also some modifications such as Gaz coilovers and some nice shiny wheels. The car has been absolutely amazing and allowed me to meet so many amazing people, some of whom I drove my 924 1500 miles from Birmingham to Hockenheim, Germany and back without a single fault.

Hi, I’m David, I got my first 924 just before my 17th birthday and it’s snowballed since. After passing my test in January this year I’ve daily driven my slammed 1985 “Ollie” and have covered just under 8k miles, including a trip through Europe to Germany with a few 924OC-YM friends. I’ve had a few 924’s over the last year and a bit, with many more trips planned.

I’m Frank, a member from the Netherlands. Bought my ’76 924 in 2022 to use as a summer daily. My car is a very early production number 2173, giving it some unique quirks and features not found in newer models.

Hi, I’m Craig and I got my 924S in 2016 at 18 years old. Bought as a second car as I was initially looking at 944’s before my dad put me onto the 924S with the same engine but with much better condition for my budget. I love taking road trips anywhere both in the UK and abroad having taken it to Le Mans Classic twice in 2018 and 2022.

Hi, my name’s Charlie, I joined the club as I’m a big fan of Porsche transaxles. I’ve actually got a 944, but still love tagging along on club runs. I became a member as well to use the forums and find out more about the 924 as in the near future I’m hoping to buy one of those too.

Hi, I’m Jack, I’ve got an ’83 924 project, after having it in bits I love it to bits, and the club is an excellent group to share the enjoyment with.

Hi, I’m Lydia. I got my car (called Chrissy) from a friend for Christmas 2017, she was my first car but I’ve only been able to drive her since 2023 because of the insurance costs. My dad and I have fixed her up mechanically while she’s been off the road and we re-trimmed the interior ourselves too. I’m hoping to take her on trips and to events for years to come.
